The successful candidate will teach the introductory course in Comparative Politics and additional upper division courses in Comparative Politics suited to their area of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach courses in some combination of democratization, citizenship, immigration, human rights (or human rights law), and emerging technology and contribute to a core curriculum with the theme of engaged citizenship . Regional area of specialization is open.
Qualified applicants will demonstrate a strong commitment to student success in the classroom, during office hours, through mentorship and advising of students, and by supervising undergraduate research projects within a liberal arts institution. They will aspire to be part of a diverse community that affirms an abundance of identities, experiences, and perspectives in order to imagine, examine, and implement possibilities for individual and communal thriving both inside and outside of the Department of Political Science.
The Political Science department at Concordia College is comprised of 4 faculty and serves over 70 majors and minors. We are a collegial and dynamic group of people who provide a positive, supportive work atmosphere. The typical class size of our courses is 15-25 students. Faculty development opportunities are available, including funds that allow for conference presentations. On-campus workshops and research presentations are also offered regularly throughout the year. Internal grant funding is available for summer research with undergraduate students. Collaborative work with colleagues within and outside of the department is encouraged and supported.

· Ability to teach courses focused on the candidate’s geographic area of specialization
· Demonstrated interest in supporting the college’s diversity, equity, and inclusion goals through course content and other activities
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
· Interest in contributing to interdisciplinary programs (e.g. Global Studies, Pre-Law)
· Interest in conducting research with undergraduate students
