About this Unit:

Administrative Solutions (AS) provides management and oversight for key administrative and technical services that enables CDHS to achieve their goals. It is responsible for a number of support functions to make our agency as efficient, effective and impactful as possible. Administrative Solutions comprises Human Resources; Facilities Management; Audit; Business Innovation; Technology and Security; Emergency Management; Legal; Performance Management; Communications; Project Management; and Leadership & Organizational Development.

Business Innovation, Technology and Security (BITS) is responsible for managing the Department’s information technology (IT) providers, including relations with the Office of Information Technology (OIT). The division serves as the main point of contact for departmental issues involving technology resources and needs, and coordinates activities with the program staff for IT support, operations, maintenance, modernization and implementation of new IT systems.

About this Position:
This position is responsible for supporting and training hospital and clinical staff at the Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan (CMHHIFL) and Forensic Services Division in operational aspects of the behavioral electronic health record (BEHR), Ancillary Web and the Legacy Cube data systems. The position accomplishes this through classroom instruction and individual training to clinical and administrative staff, including physicians and mid-level providers, nursing staff, recreational therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers, psychologists, speech/language therapists, art/music therapists, other healthcare professionals, administrative and program assistants, etc., as needed. The position assists the Informatics Team Manager develop, update and disseminate BEHR training curricula, tips sheets, user guidelines, and videos. The position collaborates with other members of the Informatics Team and the Health IT BEHR Team to test system workflows, report malfunctions and to recommend changes based on observation and requests by staff. The position collaborates with various mental health hospital staff, Health IT team (HIT) staff, and the Office of Information Technology (OIT) employees to ensure business and clinical needs are met, customer/end user support is provided, and training is delivered. The position is also required to occasionally accept and perform other duties as assigned.

Summary of Job Duties:

BEHR NEO & Discipline-Specific Training :
  • Provides Behavioral Electronic Health Record (BEHR) New Employee Orientation training as well as discipline-specific training for all new clinical and designated administrative employees working at the Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan (CMHHIFL) and Forensic Services Division.
  • Responsible for presenting BEHR instruction in a classroom setting as well as one-to-one training. All clinical disciplines, including psychiatric and medical physicians and/or providers, nursing, social work, psychology, physical therapists, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, art and music therapists, pharmacists, health professionals, etc., and some administrative staff are required to attend these sessions upon hire or on an as-needed basis to learn BEHR.
  • Responsible for introducing new content when upgrades or workflow changes occur. The position assists in developing and updating BEHR curricula, handouts and tip sheets.
  • Assists the Informatics Team Manager, clinical supervisors and Staff Education to coordinate and announce BEHR training schedules, registration and maintain attendance rosters.
  • May be required to provide occasional back-up support or training to staff working at the Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Pueblo (CMHHIP) on an as-needed basis.
BEHR End User Support :
  • Responsible for responding to ad hoc requests for support from end users from all disciplines.
  • Works alongside clinicians at the point of care to provide training and coaching. The position carries a cell phone and utilizes “screen share” technology to assist clinical staff during the shift.
  • Proficient in all disciplines’ BEHR workflows in order to assist staff.
  • Participates in assigned user group calls to maintain up-to-date information. Works collaboratively with the Health IT BEHR Team and the Office of Civil and Forensic Mental Health (OCFMH) Data & Evaluation Team to make needed BEHR corrections and provide follow up information and/or training to specific and discipline end users.
Ancillary Web / Legacy Cube Training:
  • Responsible for providing end user training for the Ancillary Web system and Legacy Cube database system, as needed. This training will focus mainly on login procedures and data collection requirements. The position is required to collaborate with the HIT BEHR Team to learn any system updates or to report malfunctions or login sync problems.
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 



Option 1 - Experience:
  • Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position. Experience must include at least one year in teaching/training, electronic health records, and clinical experience in a hospital setting.
    • Please note:  This experience must be clearly documented on your application and the supplemental questions must be answered.

Option 2 - Experience & Education:
  • A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position equal to six (6) years. Experience must include teaching/training, electronic health records, and clinical experience in a hospital setting.
Substitutions:
  • Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching experience; extra points will be awarded for classroom experience teaching/training end users on EHR principles
  • Cerner Electronic Health Record (BEHR) experience
  • Certification / Education in Informatics (Formal training in Electronic Health Record systems)
  • Nurse or clinician experience
Conditions of Employment:
  • May require in-state travel to downtown Denver, CMHHIFL and CMHHIP in Pueblo.
  • Due to the juvenile population served at the MHH facilities, incumbents of this position must be at least 21 years of age
  • The position is required to adhere to all state and CMHHIFL-specific vaccinations, including annual flu vaccinations, TB testing upon hire, etc.
