Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position coordinates the School Health Program in Union County. This position is responsible for implementing and supervising all nursing program activities within the school health setting. The primary duties of this position include planning and directing school health services and evaluation of work performances for staff assigned to the school health program. Provides school health services in a school to include classroom education in health-related topics, follow up via home visits, phone calls, and letters to ensure referrals are completed on children. Provides nursing services in the school clinic as needed to assess students need for further medical services.

This position spends more than 50% of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees’ work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets. This position supervises staff assigned to work within the Union County Health Babies/Health Babies Tobacco grant ensuring all deliverables are met within program requirements. This position supervises staff assigned to work within the Bradford & Union County Health Dental Program ensuring all deliverables are met within program requirements. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates all staff assigned to the school health program. This position is responsible for directing the work of employees to ensure the best use of time and resources, maintains coverage in school’s absenteeism. Plans and implements training of school health staff and district school staff related to health issues.

Plans, implements, and directs the school-based health screenings at all school sites to include ensuring adequate staffing, equipment, and supplies are available. Ensures follow up to all children who have screenings indicating further services are needed.

Plans, implements, and directs the school-based immunization clinics. This position is responsible for supervising all school required immunization follow up staffing all school-based immunization clinics, and coding for all immunizations given in the schools for reporting to the State on the status of the immunization levels.

Develops and implements school health plan in conjunction with school board personnel to ensure compliance with state and county regulations and needs. Completes the school health plan and end of year report. Ensures timely submission to the State Office and District School Board.

Participates with the school district on Health Advisory Team. This position provides input to the school system on all issues related to health and presents as necessary to the School Board on issues related to school health. Coordinated CPR classes for communities within Bradford/Union Counties.

Participates on the leadership team and employee committees as part of the overall mission of the agency. Assist Nursing Director with communicable disease investigations in the school setting.

Performs other related duties as required including disaster preparedness.

Qualifications:

Minimum –

Licensure as a Registered Nurse

CPR Certified

Experience working in a School Clinic.

Experience providing health education in a school setting.

Preferred –

Experience supervising employees.
