Family Engagement Facilitator (FEF)
Regional Focus: Staten Island or Brooklyn
ABOUT THE POSITION INCLUDEnyc’s Family Engagement Facilitator (FEF) focuses on educational systems change and requires understanding disability policies and special education, effective family engagement, and inclusive educational environments.
The FEF works with other INCLUDEnyc Family Educators and external partners to develop and deliver technical assistance and professional development to various stakeholders in the special education/disability community with the goal of improving educational outcomes for students with disabilities. The focus is on early childhood (ages birth to third grade) and/or school age (ages 5 to 21), with opportunities to work with both teams based on expertise, interest, and current staffing needs. Stakeholders can include families, school administrators and educators, community groups, and professionals working with children with disabilities.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a dedicated borough project lead for the respective NYSED OSE FACE Center.
- Provide professional development and technical assistance in collaboration with external partners and using NYSED’s systematized process.
- Collaborate with regional partners, including school leaders, staff, and educational administrators, to provide capacity building focused on family and community engagement in schools and other educational organizations.
- Cultivate and maintain school and community-based partnerships.
- Conduct group trainings and workshops on various disability and special education topics.
- Provide direct assistance to family members and professionals by helping them clarify issues, address barriers, and determine a course of action.
- Identify, research, and provide information resources for youth, families, and professionals.
- Support other program projects and professionals as needed.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education, social work, or related fields (contractually required).
- At least 4+ years of experience providing professional development and/or technical assistance (contractually required).
- Knowledge of the special education landscape in NYC and familiarity with NYC public schools, with experience working in one or more of the five boroughs.
- Experience with educational program design and/or adult learning.
- Experience in family engagement and awareness of family perspectives in educational systems.
- Skill navigating different perspectives, needs, and challenges when working with multiple stakeholders.
- Written and verbal fluency in English; additional fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, or Haitian Creole is preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
- Comfort with shifting deadlines and priorities.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Apps for Business (Gmail, Docs/Drive/Calendar), and Salesforce (preferred).
- Willingness and ability to travel intra-day and work occasional evenings and weekends to deliver in-person services.

SALARY: $65,000 - $70,000
