UAA General Support Services is recruiting for the position of Mail Clerk. UAA General Support Services (a unit within Facilities & Campus Services) is a diverse team that includes the Mailroom, Copy & Print Center, Surplus & Relocation, Property Operations, and Recycling functions. The Mail Clerk positions report to the Director of General Support Services with day to day coordination and training provided by the Central Receiving/Mailroom Lead.
This position is one of four Mail Clerks on the UAA Mailroom team. Mail Clerks are responsible for daily campus departmental mail routes (delivery and pick up), as well as processing of outgoing mail and sorting of incoming mail prior to delivery. In addition, the position will be trained to work the front Mailroom counter, assisting customers in person and over the phone and processing outgoing USPS, FedEx, and UPS letters and packages.
Individuals with strong interpersonal skills who enjoy interacting with customers in person on a daily basis while being out and about on campus will thrive in this role. A strong work ethic, positive, team-oriented approach and customer- focused demeanor are essential. The successful candidate will be highly dependable, value timeliness, and possess the ability to interpret and adhere to policies, procedures, regulations. It is vital that the individual be comfortable with the daily physical demands of the position and can perform well as a member of a diverse team of individuals, while also being able to complete tasks independently.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: Preferred two years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Alaska Driver’s License (must meet and maintain UA safe driver verification criteria).Relevant customer service and computer proficiency
Position Details:
This position is located on the UAA Main campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 75, based on education and experience.
