Job Title: Medical Assistant - Pediatrics - Canton
Position Overview: The Medical Assistant assist in all aspects of the practice under the supervision of the medical provider. The MA is responsible for assisting in the delivery of primary health care and patient care in a team-based patient centered medical home environment; provides clinical support for medical practitioners, assists practitioner in the performance of medical procedures, and conducts follow up with the patients as needed; acts as a liaison between patient, clinical staff, and the providers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - May administer medication injections and vaccines.
- Conducts comprehensive, preventative, screenings for patients and/or assists all support staff in daily patient interactions as needed.
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment, including taking histories and vital signs.
- Follows standing order procedures as indicated by practice.
- Performs a variety of routine blood drawing procedures.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and informs designated person of needed supplies.
- Maintains patient files, records, and other information.
- Performs various quality control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and
external regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: - High school education or the equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
- One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
- EMR Experience.
Qualifications: - Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Ability to always communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other external parties in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
- Firm grasp on medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies.
- Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures.
- Must be able to always maintain confidentiality.
Skills and Knowledge: - General knowledge of various medical procedures, views, and equipment.
- Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
- Ability to educate patients and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment according to physician protocols, guidelines, or instructions.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and handle a high volume of interactions (phones, patients, etc.).
- Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
- Ability to perform standard clinical procedures according to established protocols.
- General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and electronic health record (EHR).

Work is completed in a normal office environment and involves frequent contact with
staff, patients, and the public. Noise level is moderate. Work may be stressful at times. Contact
may involve dealing with people who are angry or upset. This position may involve working at
various community clinics and may require extended hours as needed.

functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for
prolonged periods of time and talk and hear.
Some standing is required as well as walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching,
crawling, stretching, and climbing stairs. This position requires hand-eye coordination and
manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in normal range for
telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and
working in an environment which can be very stressful. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Kids Health First is an Association of 37 Independent Pediatric Practices located in Atlanta and surrounding areas. Initial candidate screenings are conducted by our recruiter. All interviews and final decisions are made by the pediatric practices, based on their current individual needs and hiring processes. Salary and benefits are determined by individual practices.
