Job Description

Helps ensure the highest levels of guest and associate satisfaction while maximizing operational quality and efficiency. Provide the leadership expertise that ensures the effective and efficient operation of the hotel in the absence of departmental management and the General Manager, by supervising all departments in accordance with hotel policies. Shares in the responsibility for safety, security, and overall operations in over night shifts and in the absence of department and the General Manager. Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction and coordination for hotel personnel in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Directs and coordinates various services related to operations.
  • Assumes responsibility for supervision of operations and staff in absence of appropriate department manager.
  • Communicates summary of nightly activities and concerns with appropriate department managers and General Manager, by completing the daily written log.
  • Assumes responsibility for overall security of the hotel.
  • Ensures proper guest relations by resolving and taking appropriate actions on all customer complaints and problems.
  • Maintains hotel's cleanliness in accordance with policy, by conducting regular inspections and taking appropriate action when necessary.
  • Uphold and abide by the policies in the Associate Handbook for your position. Follow these policies, rules and regulations for the safe and effective overall operation. Teach and enforce all existing and new policies and procedures. Must have commitment to comp0any values.
  • Maintain a positive and inspirational coaching approach to working with and supporting your associates. Create and maintain a positive work environment through team building. Be proactive to assure your property has a "harassment free" work environment. Report any harassing behavior immediately.
  • Directly facilitates open employee communications to discern and respond to any grievances that may arise. To then further address those grievances that merit correction.
  • Serve as a role model for managers and staff in terms of professionalism, attitude, respect, communication, appearance, conduct, cooperation and trust.
  • Maintain at least a 40 hour average annual work week schedule, as discussed and directed by GM.
  • Verify staff is in proper uniform and adheres to appearance guidelines. Confirm staff conducts themselves in a professional manner.
  • Help to maintain a proactive Worker's Comp0ensation program. This will help to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees. In the event an employee is injured, verify a First Report of Injury form is completed by each applicable department manager with 24 hours of the incident. Confirm that all Worker's Compensation forms get filled out and submitted. Help monitor a proactive Back to Work approach.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all schedule training sessions and meetings is required.
Qualifications:
  • The individual must possess the job knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job. This being with or without reasonable accommodation, using a combination of knowledge, skills and abilties.
  • High School Diploma or GED. College degree in hospitality management is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in hotel management or strong leadership role required.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and guests, verbally and in writing. This being done with a strong understanding of the English language.
  • Possess and demonstrate supervisory and training skills.
  • Operate computer and navigate property management system.
  • Act independently with minimal or no supervision, taking on the role of team leader.
  • Ability to maintain compliance with all local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Ensure that guest satisfaction is consistently obtained and maintained.
  • Ability to make sound decisions with only general policies and procedures available for guidance.
  • Possess and demonstrate supervisory/management skills.
  • Through knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, labor relations and corporate and property and specific policies.
