Job Description

Overview:

The Safety Field Trainer (Cross-Dock) is responsible for developing and delivering training programs, such as new employee and manager safety orientations, MHE equipment training, and industry-required safety training topics. Collaborate with the business to proactively build a safe working environment, as well as support the business in response to safety compliance issues (e.g. accidents, retraining). This position reports into the Director, Warehouse Operations

Responsibilities:
  • Learning development: Develop orientation and other material for new hires following industry training practice techniques to promote knowledge retention and application.
  • Facilitate training: Conduct training such as safety meetings and OSHA training and safety improvement plans Record the training and ensure training record compliance. Facilitate training such as progressive training, when participating in new business start-ups.
  • Counseling and safety practice development: Counsel employees on safety compliance; Assist new sites in developing safety practices during new site start-ups.
  • Training coordination: Partner with Operations to develop and deploy training schedules, procedures, and other safety solutions. Manage and coordinate training.
  • Audit and Disciplinary: Develop investigation reports of safety incidents/accidents and participate in the annual audits of facilities. Lead the disciplinary action decision and process after a preventable collision/incident occurs. Ensure compliance of state and federal regulations are enforced, including auditing, administering safety policies, and implementing safety-training programs.
  • Leader development: Help Distribution sites to develop leaders of safety training. Conduct training for individuals to lead safety teams.
Qualifications:
  • College degree in Safety Engineering, Business Logistics or Industrial Engineering preferred

  • A minimum of 3 years in a distribution or transportation operations role

  • 1-2 years of experience training and/or coaching associates

  • Working knowledge of Federal and State law and regulations

  • Computer applications using MS Office

  • Must be able to influence, coach, and mentor front-line employees

  • Strong supervisory skills in dealing with people

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Must have a valid driver’s license

  • Must be or get OSHA-certified

  • Must be certified in the Power Industrial Tool used at the current facility

  • Spanish speaking preferred in some locations

     

    Other:

     

  • Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights and weekends as needed by a training schedule

  • Travel up to 80% and be able to travel during week and weekends for training at facilities

  • Other duties as assigned
