Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position is under the direct supervision of the Senior Community Health Nursing Director. The incumbent has access to the follow sets of confidential information: CHD client medical record, Health Clinic Management System.
The incumbent provides public health nursing services for clients in the Primary Care, Family Planning (FP) and Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) clinic. This position is classified as a sensitive position. Incumbent handles protected health information on a need-to-know basis following Department of Health, HIPAA and Information Security and privacy policy. Works independently to provide contraceptive services to women attending Florida Department of Health Gadsden County clinics including review of methods, method starts, supply and pregnancy testing. Consults with Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) as necessary. Provides HIV counseling, testing, and preventive education following Department of Health (DOH) guidelines and triages clients who walk in. Works with Medical Director, and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner assisting with care, examination, and treatment of clients. Administers medications in the clinic under clinician’s orders and/or following DOH and Title X guidelines. Evaluates individual needs and makes appropriate referrals. Assists in completing Title X reports which include quarterly sterilization reports and I & E committee reports. Monitors monthly unknown method report.
This position will become the STD Credentialed Nurse for Gadsden County Health Department. When training is available and offered through the State Health Office Bureau of Communicable Disease the incumbent will complete all requirements including training which may include out-of-state travel.
Monitors nursing practices of the immunization program to ensure high quality of professional services and maintenance of agency standards. Serves as the Back-up coordinator for the Gadsden County FDOH VFC program. Monitors the vaccine inventory by conducting routine weekly and monthly inventory counts, ordering vaccines in a timely manner, keeping daily refrigerator logs, and making sure the vaccine monitoring system is in good working order. Assists with completing the FDOH Gadsden immunization report and helps to ensure clients have completed immunizations based on the 4:3:1: 3:3:1:4 schedule by the age of 2 years old and strives to maintain at least 95% of clientele are complete. Educates employees on proper handling of vaccines. Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and in-service programs pertinent to immunizations to update.
Assist with case managing the PAP follow-up, provide case management with initial contacts, reminders, and coordination of care for those receiving colposcopy and biopsy. Manages any medications in the drug room, maintaining adequate inventory and working with appropriate clinic staff for ordering medications as needed through the PFS system. Keeps drug room organized and ensures monthly pharmacy inventory is conducted by utilizing and completing the PFS reconciliation report. Coordinate annual equipment calibration and maintenance for clinic equipment.

Qualifications:
Minimum - RN License Floria Statute Chapter 464 and one year of experience in providing nursing services.
Preferred – Current BLS Certification.
