General Statement: QCC Counseling and Wellness Office provides students with assessment, triage and counseling, as well as workshops, outreach initiatives and referrals within the QCC community and general community. Consultation regarding behavioral, wellness, and mental health issues to be provided to the QCC student and staff community. We seek excellence through diversity and inclusion.
Supervision Received: - Director of Counseling and Wellness
- Contracted supervision with a Licensed Psychologist
Supervision Exercised:
Graduate intern/s training.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Provide individual counseling for QCC students struggling with stress and/or mental health issues within a solution focused counseling model, often providing triage, and when safety is a concern, same day assessments.
- Facilitate workshops, crisis assessment, and psycho-educational programs/groups.
- Provide behavioral and clinical consultation to the QCC faculty and staff.
- Participate in team, departmental and collegial meetings.
- Participate in CARE team case management support
- Manage administrative duties including scheduling, record keeping, and collateral engagement
- Actively support the teaching and learning process; practicing honesty and integrity in and out of the classroom; strive to create and support a student-centered environment.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: - Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or Clinical Psychology.
- Licensed to practice independently in MA.
- Mental Health counseling experience (3-5 years)
- Ability to provide brief and focused counseling.
- Demonstrated competency working with multicultural and other diverse populations.
- Experience providing risk assessment and crisis response.
- Experience working independently and collaboratively in a fast paced work setting.
- Experience and skill with the use of Medical Record technology and basic Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications: - Licensed 5 years or more as a social worker or mental health counselor.
- Specific practice skills with CBT, DBT or group work.
- Counseling experience in a collegiate academic level, community college experience preferred.
- Experience providing outreach, group work, and consultation.
- Demonstrated competency in providing bilingual therapy.
- Experience and skills working with Depression, Anxiety, Body Image issues, Trauma, Substance Abuse, and Crisis Intervention.
- Experience and skills working with diverse populations.
