About the DepartmentThe RN-to-BSN Program is housed within the Health and Community Studies Department in Woodring College of Education. Western’s RN-to-BSN Program is based directly upon the collaboration between multiple educational institutions, healthcare advocates and practice partners. As a result of these collaborations, students experience a needs-driven, community-built model that allows them to engage directly with the public as they address issues of social justice and devise new ways of delivering healthcare. Students attend classes one day per week to allow students balance their pursuit of continued nursing education with a busy work, family and personal life. Students can complete the program in four continuous academic quarters. The Nursing Program is nationally accredited (CCNE) and approved by the state nursing commission (NCQAC). For more information please visit the RN-to-BSN Program webpage.
The Woodring College of Education and the Health & Community Studies Department support Western's mission, which states that together with our students, staff, and faculty, we are committed to making a positive impact in the state and the world with a shared focus on academic excellence and inclusive achievement. We encourage applications from women, people of color, people with disabilities, veterans, and other candidates from underrepresented backgrounds and with diverse experiences interested in this opportunity.Under the direction of the Director of the Nursing Program, the successful candidate may instruct a course in the plan of study or provide clinical practice experience instruction to students at off campus practice sites. You must have your students evaluate your course(s) using the standard University evaluation forms and made available to the program director and department chair for review.
