Job Description

Position Title

RN-to-BSN Non-Tenure Track Faculty Vacancy Pool

About the University

Western Washington University, with over 16,000 students in seven colleges and the graduate school, is nationally recognized for its educational programs, students and faculty. The campus is located in Bellingham, Washington, a coastal community of 90,000 overlooking Bellingham Bay, the San Juan Islands and the North Cascades Mountain range. The city lies 90 miles north of Seattle and 60 miles south of Vancouver, British Columbia. Western is the highest-ranking public, master's-granting university in the Pacific Northwest, according to the 2022 U.S. News & World Report rankings.

About the Department

The RN-to-BSN Program is housed within the Health and Community Studies Department in Woodring College of Education.  Western’s RN-to-BSN Program is based directly upon the collaboration between multiple educational institutions, healthcare advocates and practice partners.  As a result of these collaborations, students experience a needs-driven, community-built model that allows them to engage directly with the public as they address issues of social justice and devise new ways of delivering healthcare.  Students attend classes one day per week to allow students balance their pursuit of continued nursing education with a busy work, family and personal life.  Students can complete the program in four continuous academic quarters. The Nursing Program is nationally accredited (CCNE) and approved by the state nursing commission (NCQAC).  For more information please visit the RN-to-BSN Program webpage.

The Woodring College of Education and the Health & Community Studies Department support Western's mission, which states that together with our students, staff, and faculty, we are committed to making a positive impact in the state and the world with a shared focus on academic excellence and inclusive achievement. We encourage applications from women, people of color, people with disabilities, veterans, and other candidates from underrepresented backgrounds and with diverse experiences interested in this opportunity.

Under the direction of the Director of the Nursing Program, the successful candidate may instruct a course in the plan of study or provide clinical practice experience instruction to students at off campus practice sites.  You must have your students evaluate your course(s) using the standard University evaluation forms and made available to the program director and department chair for review.

About the Position

The RN-to-BSN Program maintains a vacancy pool of qualified persons interested in temporary, part-time teaching positions.  In anticipation of possible openings throughout the academic year and summer quarter, applications are accepted continuously for non-tenure track teaching positions. Positions in the rank of Instructor may become available at any time and are typically filled on a quarterly basis.  Courses are face to face hybrid instruction; Clinical Practice Experience Instructors will travel to practice partner sites.
