DESCRIPTION

Otterbein University is seeking a temporary Copy Center/Mail Services Assistant who will performing a variety of clerical duties to ensure that campus mail is picked up and distributed in a timely and accurate manner and assist the copy center as needed. This is a non-exempt, temporary 40 hours/week position for approximately 4-6 weeks.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with the timely distribution of campus mail Monday through Friday
  • Work with student employees to sort mail by department/office/individual
  • Drives college vehicle to pick up and deliver mail daily from local U.S. Post Office and around campus
  • Receives and scans in packages in the QTrak system. Distribute packages to students using the Package handling system
  • Provides quality customer service to the campus community
  • Assist the Copy Center as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of clerical experience preferred.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio driver's license. Must be able to pass and remain certified through the University's driver program.



LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must demonstrate professional level oral and written communications skills including grammar.



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be competent in general math.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with computer systems or a willingness to learn.
  • Competency in general math and in verbal and written English skills, including grammar.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in unusual or new situations and in dealing with confidential information.
  • Must take pride in and be thorough in quality of work produced.

Must be able to lift mail cartons / packages that weigh up to 50 lbs.; able to work in a noisy environment; able to spend prolonged periods of time working on an office PC; able to reach, travel throughout office and to other campus locations; able to hear and make self heard by co-workers and other constituencies; able to see to process work that the position is responsible for completing; able to work under deadlines with constant interruptions; frequently listening to and talking with students, faculty and other staff members either in person or by telephone.
