Job Description

Position Summary:

The Bartender/Server is a key member of the hospitality team, responsible for crafting and serving beverages while ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for guests. This role requires excellent customer service skills, a thorough knowledge of mixology, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Bartender not only prepares and serves drinks but also engages with guests, maintains bar cleanliness, and ensures compliance with all safety and alcohol service regulations. Pay rate is $8 per hour with hourly tip share (please note that a full time employee is expected to make on average $115k+) along with an extensive benefit package after probationary period.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Greet guests promptly and courteously. Engage with guests to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Take and serve drink orders, providing recommendations and answering questions about the menu.
  • Drink Preparation: Mix and serve jiggered alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes. Ensure consistency and quality in all drinks served. Create specialty cocktails and suggest drink pairings.
  • Bar Maintenance: Keep the bar area clean, organized, and well-stocked. Perform regular inventory checks and restock supplies as needed. Ensure all bar equipment is functioning properly.
  • Server: Takes care of guests seated at Cornerstone’s bar in the bistro along with ensuring proper steps of service.
  • Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash and credit card transactions using TOAST POS. Open and close tabs, process payments, and manage receipts. Maintain an accurate cash drawer and balance it at the end of each shift.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all state and local alcohol service regulations. Check identification to verify legal drinking age using our BARSTATS ID app. Monitor guest behavior to prevent overconsumption and ensure a safe environment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other staff members, including servers, barbacks, and kitchen staff, to provide seamless service. Assist in training new bartenders and barbacks as needed.
  • Problem Solving: Address any issues or complaints promptly and professionally first with the GM and then the guest. Handle difficult situations with tact along with the GM’s assistance and maintain a positive demeanor.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous bartending experience preferred. Knowledge of mixology and drink preparation techniques is essential.
  • Skills: Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails. Understanding of bar equipment and inventory management.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry heavy items, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks associated with event setup and breakdown.
